Aderonke Komolafe
Dr. Aderonke Komolafe is a researcher in human information behaviour, with a particular focus on its intersection with gender-based violence, adolescent experiences, and population dynamics across Africa. As an information and knowledge specialist, her work integrates information behaviour, population health, and social development, exploring how targeted communication interventions can challenge harmful norms and improve well-being.
Her research investigates how women, adolescents, and other vulnerable groups seek, interpret, and apply information in contexts shaped by displacement, inequality, and cultural constraints. Guided by a commitment to social justice and health equity, Dr. Komolafe employs interdisciplinary approaches to demonstrate how information and communication can serve as powerful tools for advancing social and behavioural change. Her work advocates for evidence-based strategies that empower African communities, dismantle harmful norms, and promote sustainable health outcomes.
A recipient of fellowship awards and research grants in both Africa and the United States, Dr. Komolafe has presented her work at prestigious platforms, including the Population Association of America Conference in Washington, D.C., and the Union for African Population Studies Conference in Malawi.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Resources Management, with a specialization in Knowledge and Innovation Management, from Babcock University, Nigeria. Dr. Komolafe continues to contribute to interdisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy, with the aim of bridging the gap between information practices and sustainable health and social development in Africa.
